Um … it’s pictures and stuff. Of various religious themes, many (but not all) of which include Jesus. We think they’re funny. They may be offensive to some, but we believe that God/ess/es has/have a sense of humor. “Funny” is an odd thing: something that gains a LOL from one may just seem stupid or ill-spirited to another. If you get the former out of this site, good on ya. If it’s the latter, feel free to show us what’s really funny.

How to Submit

Wanna submit something? Send it to loltheist@gmail.com, with “Submission” in the subject line.

Guidelines:

1. Please try to make images no wider than 500 pixels. Side-scrolling makes the Baby Jesus cry.

2. Let us know how you want to be credited. We will NOT link to your site unless YOU ASK US TO. Believe it or not, lots of people are afraid to be linked or credited with their real names for fear of reprisals. We’re happy to link you if we post your submission, but you have to ask.

3. No copyrighted images! If we find out, we’ll have to take them down and that would be a waste of funny. Do not waste the funny. In general, classical art works from the 1800’s and before are mostly out of copyright.

We try not to post more than one image/post per hour in order to avoid spamming those who choose to read this via RSS feed. If accepted, your submission will be posted more or less in the order it was received. Sometimes. If we feel like it.

We are not obligated or required to to use any captions, slogans, images, or designs you submit. By accepting our offer and sending us your image, caption, slogan and/or design, you are giving us a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use the submitted caption / image / slogan / design for the production of consumer goods for commercial sale by us.

Suggestions for Getting Started

Basically, first, you find a picture. We like to use Wikimedia Commons, because usually the pictures you find there are allowed to be used. But you can also search for public domain pictures.

Then, the easiest way to caption them is to go to the Lol and Lolcat Builder, upload the picture, and use their various form thingies to put captions on it. When you do “Preview,” You can right-click on the picture and save it to your computer. Then email it to us at loltheist@gmail.com. That’s pretty much it.

Of course, some people just do it with Microsoft Paint or whatever, but the Lol and Lolcat Builder lets you do the cool stuff like outlined text and those “Motivational poster” kinds of things, and do it quickly.
